Corporate Governance Structure

Zimbabwe Cotton Consortium believes and strives to establish good corporate governance structures and best practices as part of its philosophy and culture. Its management structure combines responsible leadership and independent supervision. Our leadership structure sets our agenda and priorities and defines how we work as an organisation. The Executive team operates under the chairmanship of the Chief Executive Officer and shares responsibility for the deployment of Zimbabwe Cotton Consortium strategy and policies, and the achievement of its objectives and results. The board of directors provides an independent supervision.

Management

David
CEO - David Takura Machingaidze

A social entrepreneur whose passion is to realize the empowerment of the smallholder tobacco farmer through service excellence. David holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting Science and he is a Harvard Business School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge alumnus. He has vast experience in the agri-business industry, having held top management positions in various sectors which include tobacco and cotton since the year 2000.

David is a proven, dynamic CEO with a 14-year track record as a successful turnaround strategist. He was one of 20 under-40 CEO’s in Zimbabwe selected for membership of Young Presidents Organization (YPO) International.  Professional interests include corporate turnaround strategy, development finance, private equity investing and values based leadership.

 

Mapfuwa
Group General Manager – Andrew Mupfawa

A seasoned strategic thinker with extensive experience in executive management, finance and operations. He has an excellent track record in delivering outstanding business results and is passionate about innovation, business transformation to drive competitiveness, stakeholder value and sustainable growth, while focusing on agile cost efficient operations.

Andrew has 18 years in the agri-business sector and has held senior managerial posts at Cottco, Ethical Leaf Tobacco and the Zimbabwe Cotton Consortium. Andrew is an accountant by profession and is at the Professional level of ACCA qualification.

jokonya
Financial Accountant - Francis Jokonya

A Hands on strategist  with wide experience in Financial and  Management Accounting  and Internal Systems and Procedures. He played a very leading role in bringing about systems and procedures in accounting whilst at the Cotton Company of Zimbabwe. The cotton Buying System that is used for by Cotton Merchants are a product of his entrepreneurship.

Francis Jokonya did his A Levels in Birmingham UK and a Bachelor of Accountancy Degree at the University of Zimbabwe. Whist employed by the Cotton Company of Zimbabwe he qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered  Secretaries and Administrators and is currently registered as a Public Accountant. He also did his MBA part time at the University of Zimbabwe.
